The Origins of the Name, Red Rain Photography

We have gotten many requests for an explanation of where the name of our photography company came from and since it does have personal meaning to me, I am more than happy to explain. It's actually fairly simple...and definitely meaningful.

First, starting with the word "Red," the explanation is nothing earth-shattering...I am a red-head. But as any red-head will tell you, it is a source of pride, both because so few people share in this physical trait and because it speaks to my european heritage. I love my red hair and I'm hoping my children will follow suit when we have them - just ask my husband! :)

Second, the word "Rain." Let's start by saying, we live in Phoenix, AZ and I grew up all my life here. This may seem counter-intuitive since it rains less than 20 days a year, but that is exactly it. I know most people outside of Phoenix will think this is crazy, but I LOVE the rain...I have since I was a little kid and still do. It happens so seldomly here that when it does, it is so much fun and the lightning storms are absolutely incredible. Don't believe me? Google "Phoenix Lightning" in Google Images. You may wonder why I don't have any pictures of lightning storms...good question. Well, my husband gets a little nervous while I'm out there, so I don't stay too long and haven't gotten a great shot, yet...so blame him! ;)

And there you have it...To me, a name is everything, and Red Rain speaks to my own self-efficacy, pride, and confidence as well as an innocence and the small loves in life that make everything worth while. To me, it's perfect.

By the way, I decided to post this special today because it is my birthday!

  1. Happy Birthday!!!

I have a little red-head. I may be a little biased, but I think she's beautiful. If I had a dollar for every time I heard, "Her hair is so beautiful" or "I wish I had hair that color", I would be one rich woman.

    A toast to red-heads!
